Executive Chef Eugenio Reyes

 

Peering through the dishwashing station just weeks after moving from Mexico City without knowing a word of English, Eugenio Reyes spent his days dreaming of one day being able to prepare a meal for the guests. He never imagined that he would rise through the ranks and one day become an executive chef.

Prior to becoming executive chef at Ocean Prime Dallas, Reyes was the restaurant's executive sous chef. During this time he was an integral part of the Ocean Prime training team, traveling to various locations to help train the kitchen staff in Troy, Mich., Atlanta, Indianapolis and Dallas. Before joining Ocean Prime, Reyes was a sous chef at Mitchell's Ocean Club in Columbus, Ohio, and received Cameron Mitchell Restaurants' "Sous Chef of the Year" award in 2010. Reyes first gained leadership in the kitchen as a kitchen supervisor after beginning his cooking career at the salad station. He previously spent eight months as a dishwasher while carefully watching and learning from the chefs and cooks. Reyes credits Cameron Mitchell Restaurants for helping him find his ideal career path and loves working for a company that truly cares about its associates.

After moving to the United States in 1996, Reyes continues to celebrate his Mexican heritage and enjoys experimenting with traditional Mexican flavors and combining them with American twists. Even when he is not in the Ocean Prime kitchen, he enhances his cooking skills by reading cookbooks, experimenting in the kitchen and watching the Food Network.
